East-West Seed is the undisputed market leader for tropical vegetable seeds in Asia. It develops, produces and markets hybrid tropical vegetable seeds. The company has developed its business over the last three decades using superior vegetable breeding combined with a carefully cultivated and nurtured relationship with local farmers wherever it operates. The company holds leading market positions in Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka. It has also expanded its business activities in India, China, Latin and South America, and Africa.
While East-West Seed also sells lower value open pollinated seed varieties, its leadership position is largely due to its focus on high value hybrid vegetable seeds in the solanaceae (e.g., chili and tomato) and cucurbit (e.g., gourds and pumpkin) families. It has also become increasingly successful in introducing sweet and glutinous corn varieties.
